  Helping The Helpless Pets

  About Us

Helping the Helpless Pet Rescue is a 501c3 organization and is dedicated to saving the lives of homeless shelter pets and taking in those who have been abused and neglected. We do this through fostering pets in our home and in qualified foster homes. All pets receive lots of love, dedication, and socialization while they are with us.

*Please note, HTH (Helping the Helpless) is not a shelter or a kennel. Meeting our pets is by appointment only.  Applicants will be considered only after a completed adoption application is received.

Foster homes are truly the lifeline of rescue. If you are interested in becoming a foster family for a pet in need, please complete out foster application.

Helping the Helpless is a small, independent rescue who is very grateful for support from pet lovers like you!

  HTH Mission Statement

Without local animal rescues, Chester County would be facing many more issues relating to stray cats and dogs than they do today. Helping the Helpless is a wonderful and beneficial organization that helps find loving homes for misplaced, mistreated, stray, and unwanted pets. HTH operates from our foster homes. The pets are welcome in and are treated as our own. They are not kenneled and we are responsible for their everyday care.

Our general purpose in animal rescue is primarily to work hard in order to save lives of pets in need. Sometimes, pets that have been in shelters for an extended period of time are eligible for euthanization, and HTH desires to see no animal euthanized. HTH strives to keep these loving pets safe, as we look for new, caring, responsible, and loving families to take a new pet into their home permanently.

HTH specializes in rescuing American Pit Bull Terrier & American Staffordshire Terrier Breeds, however, we will try to take into our Rescue any pet that is in need.  We never want to turn away a companion animal who needs us.  HTH works closely with animal shelters. HTH accepts pets from shelters that have been there too long and have worn out their welcome.  When a shelter is unable to find a companion animal a home, our organization strives to ensure this goal is met.  HTH utilizes loving, responsible and dedicated foster families who are willing to take the pet into their own home until an adoption family can be found.  Our foster family volunteers make a tremendous difference in the lives of pets everyday by accepting these unfortunate animals into their homes.

HTH primarily depends on adoption donations and fund-raisers as our money source. HTH also depends heavily on caring, thoughtful and generous donors to help us continue saving lives.

During the animals’ stay with HTH they benefit greatly. HTH provides for pets’ health attention, such as spaying or neutering, vaccinations, disease prevention medication and other medical attention that might be necessary. These pets also play with volunteers doing things such as catch, tug-o-war, or simply running around and getting along with other dogs. Many times these pets undergo training sessions as well, so that when a caring family receives their new pet, they have little to worry about.  Another great perk that these companion pets have during their stay with HTH is the continued and positive socialization they receive with children, cats and other dogs.

This socialization is helpful in matching pets with their new owners. People who adopt from HTH are fully aware of their new companion’s behavior and needs based on this socialization.  They are also saving a valuable life in the process of animal adoption through our rescue group. Because of HTH countless lives have been saved by being rescued and then transferred into a loving new home.

HTH strives to help one helpless pet at a time through our love, dedication and education.
