Have you found yourself in the recent predicament of needing to re home your beloved canine companion?

Please remember that a pet is a lifetime commitment and we, as their humans, are the only ones they have to fully rely on.  We are their lives.  Our goal at HTH is to help you as a pet owner find a way to keep your pet, regardless of your current situation.  Shelters and rescues are incredibly over run with homeless pets, and loving dogs and cats are being put to sleep every day due to lack of space in these facilities.

Most relocation, temperament and financial issues relating to your pet can be overcome.  We would like to offer some suggestions in helping you with this process.

  1. Relocating with your pet - find pet friendly housing, (and more) create a pet agreement and offer a pet deposit (Visit Landlord Policies for Pet-Friendly Rentals Pennsylvania first to present an educated proposal to your prospective Landlord) and if your landlord is restricting your breed of dog offer the following information: 1)  Your dog is spayed/neutered  2) Offer to enroll your dog in a training class and work towards his/her  AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification 3) Do your research!  Click here for a complete listing of BSL in the United States.
  2. Pet temperament changes- Rule out all medical concerns by asking your vet for a complete medical evaluation.  Seek the help of a professional trainer!  Reputable trainers are dedicated to using positive reinforcement to teach proper behavior and helping pet owners understand their dogs' needs. Remind your dog of his/her boundaries and their place in your home through Positive Reinforcement.  Pit Bull Training Links.322
